Tibialis Anterior

The muscle on the front-outer shin; lifts the foot and prevents foot-drop when running and walking.

Function

Ankle dorsiflexion and inversion of the foot.

Origin

Lateral surface of the tibia and the interosseous membrane.

Insertion

Medial cuneiform and the base of the first metatarsal.
