The large fan-shaped muscle of the chest; central to all pressing movements.

- Shoulder flexion, adduction, internal rotation and horizontal adduction.
- Origine
- Clavicle, sternum and the upper costal cartilages.
- Insertion
- Lateral lip of the intertubercular groove of the humerus.
